I can't believe I've never written a review for Lady Nomada Belmar. It's one of our hands down, favorite Mexican places in Lakewood. And, to be fair, they are officially bring a coastal baja flavor. We used to drive to Arvada and were SO incredibly excited to see the Belmar location opened up. We've brought friends here who were new to the area and said they needed a great Mexican restaurant. We've come many times and as usual, sit at the bar. Recently with said friends, we sat at a booth. Same great service (which is usually not the case for places), same friendly staff, scrumptious food and just the right mix of attentiveness. Lady Nomada is one of those places you can bring friends and enjoy yourselves. We were laughing quite loudly at times, but fit right in with the laughter and conversations around us. We ordered chips and queso, a pitcher of the spicy margaritas this last time, and my go to, the Baja chicken enchiladas with the verde sauce. Oh my word, even writing this review makes me wanna go today. If you are looking for a very cool place, in and of itself, great food that is not your typical Mexican - a step above, and great craft cocktails? This is it. You're welcome in advance!
I love this place. The staff is really great, very friendly and helpful. The food is outstanding, haven't had a bad meal yet. The HH is pretty solid and so is the lunch special. I recommend the Barria, Baja Fish and Carnitas tacos. I also really like their fajitas. You just can't go wrong here really. I end up here like once a week at this point. My pocket book hates me but my stomach remains satisfied and without a single complaint.
I've been wanting to try this place for a while and am glad I finally made it. They take reservations and have a nice hostess greeting you at the door. It was a warm day so we sat inside. Nice airy sunny room, a little funky like Austin. I went two different times so I don't usually eat this much! We ordered the potato taquito which reminded me of egg rolls. Very delicious. We also tried the chili rellenos with guacamole. For tacos, I had the birria and Baja fried fish tacos. I really liked the fried fish and it was very meaty with crunchy batter. I think I'm just not a birria gal as pretty as it looks. It wasn't as messy as I've had elsewhere but I didn't love the cheese. I also had the grilled fish which tasted fresh and was more healthy for me. Then I undid that and had the fried avocado which was nice and mild with good crunch. It came with a fresh lime slice which added more flavor. The house marg was fine but it cost as much as my 2 tacos. And when I left there was still half a cup of ice so it was pretty heavy on the ice. Next time I'd ask for less ice. Our server Daniel was awesome. He was super friendly and smiley and stopped by at just the right moments to check in. Last time a nice man helped us with my friend's corn allergy and took good care of us with a cheery attitude. Street parking is easy in front or around the corner there's a free parking lot. It's a nice place in Belmar and I'll be back trying to find my go-to meal and fave dishes!
Found parking right in front as someone pulled out so that was nice. The patio would have been a good place to sit but the ladies like it inside more. We sat in a booth facing the tv and it was a relaxing video to watch. Our server was professional and nice. I went with the lunch special as I like fish and they had Baja Fish Tacos as an option. The salsa was pretty tasty. Not spicy and the chips fresh. All the dishes ordered looked good. I preferred to eat the fish alone. It was delish. The rice was a little dry and I skipped the beans as I'm not eating too many carbs. The drawback to this restaurant both times I've come is flies enter and buzz around. Both restrooms are gender neutral and seemed clean.
I've been wanting to try this place for awhile and it did not disappoint. Pros: Atmosphere was adorable. Staff was really friendly and attentive. The manager even brought our food out and assured my celiac friend that they switched gloves and fresh pans when plating her food. The shrimp tacos were sooooo good. Love the blue corn tortilla as well. Chips and salsa were really good. Cons: Crazy long wait for our food. I'm sure some had to do with our GF order but nothing was said when we were waiting. My friend ordered black beans, I ordered refrieds but they still gave me black beans instead. They were good though. The chicken Tinga was a bit dry, needs a sauce or something. Definitely would come back again.
Lady Nomada was such a cool find! The decor reminded me of stepping into a Spanish oasis with bright, beautiful natural light and an artistic flare. The food and bevs were such a treat. We went with the lunch special tacos and elderberry prickly pear margaritas. The birria taco was my fav. I also got the chicken tinga. It was delicious but a bit spicy for my taste. The service was friendly, quick, and efficient. They kindly and carefully catered to my friend's food allergies. The server ensured there was no cheese or gluten on anything, and when the food runner dropped off the meal, he confirmed the allergies. I love this kind of efficiency. We will definitely be back!
Service was excellent- Sarah S is the best. So attentive and kind to our family which includes school age kids. Like the best waitress we have ever had possibly- anticipated our needs, friendly , kind and helpful. Food is delicious- I'm not sure why this spot isn't talked about more- where else can you get a Cali style fresh flavorful taco for $4.50?!? Reminds me of dos santos but better and cheaper. Our favorites were the chicken quesadilla- kids split the grownup one as it came with crusted cheese on the outside. The birria taco, smoked brisket special taco and the carnita taco. Also the street corn was sooo good- not very traditional but I liked it better- like, cheesy goodness / maybe butter? And a hint of spice
